Inherent rights and Indigenous sovereignty, by Robyn Rowe

We’re pleased to share the writings of Dr. Robyn Rowe, Lead for the Indigenous Data Team.  Robyn is instrumental in informing and guiding our commitment to Indigenous data governance and sovereignty.  She recently posted an article about inherent Indigenous rights on her own blog, which we recommend for anyone looking to better understand why Indigenous data sovereignty is so important.

In her article, “New year, new outlook! Inherent rights and Indigenous sovereignty,” Robyn reflects on the commonalities and differences between the data rights of Indigenous Peoples and Nations and other “equity-deserving subgroups that are represented by IDEA*.”
